The European Union's food innovation organization EIT Food, with the help of Pozi Network Zrt, launches the GoAgriTech workshop programme in Hungary, where refugees from war can gain entrepreneurial skills.

20 Ukrainian refugees or students are expected to take part in a series of free workshops in several countries concerned by the refugee issue, including Hungary for the first time.

The presentations will be organized in Budapest in cooperation with the European organisation EIT Food and the experts of the start-up platform Pozi.io. This is a series of entrepreneurial workshops for those who want to start an Agrofood business or are thinking about an idea on the topic. The programme is aimed at activating Ukrainian youth fleeing from the prolonged war and Russian aggression and residing in Hungary through the workshop(s) promoting AgriTech as a career path. Although different in its target group from the ongoing Empowering Women Agrifood (EWA) programme, the EIT Food programme has very similar objectives, as training the agricultural entrepreneurs of the near future is a very important task.

The EIT Food and Pozi.io collaboration in the EWA programme targets women, whereby going through a mentoring process over several months, it is hoped that future women food entrepreneurs will receive in-depth training and support for their projects. As a testament to the effectiveness of the programme, one of the EWA participants recently achieved a top result in one of Hungary's prestigious university innovation competitions. 

A central element of both programmes is to bring participants closer to an innovative approach to agriculture and food production. The organisers hope that the participants will gain knowledge from the events that could help them to earn a living in any part of Europe in the future. Workshop topics will include entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and communication, as well as innovative opportunities in the food industry. The ideas and potential projects that emerge here can also receive further professional help from Pozi.io experts and even make international contacts through the platform. An important aspect in the creation of the workshops was to give opportunities to people who do not yet speak a foreign language, so a Ukrainian interpreter will help to convey the ideas of participants, speakers, and mentors.

The programme is completely free to register until 1 November and the first two workshops will take place in November.
