Hi, I’m Elena and I’m the founder of BY DESIGN, a startup creating the first high-end 100% plant-based, plastic-free and biodegradable handbags with a radical commitment to transparency. The main material is a leather made from 50% natural rubber, 25% mineral oils and waxes, and 25% agricultural waste. The linings and threads are made from organic cotton, and hardware has been omitted altogether to obtain an entirely compostable product. No synthetic dyes and paints are used.
